Subscribe to the Latest News RSS Feed

What is an RSS Feed?

The technical acronym for RSS is “Really Simple Syndication”, an XML format that was created to syndicate news, and be a means to share content on the web. With RSS, you can “subscribe” to a website or blog, and get “fed” all the new headlines from that website. We are excited to be able to offer our visitors the chance to subscribe to our news page and get notices each time we add a new article to the website news.

Subscribing to the AWG RSS feed

To “subscribe” to a website or blog’s RSS feed simply means that you are telling that website or blog, “Yes please. Send me your story headlines.” It’s like subscribing to a magazine or newsletter. Instead of getting a magazine or email, you will just get a list of headlines as they are added to the website. If the headline looks interesting to you, all you have to do is click on the headline and you’ll be taken directly to the article in the news.

In order to subscribe to our website RSS, all you have to do is click on the RSS symbol on the latest news page.

Browsers like Internet Explorer 7, Safari and Firefox allow you to subscribe to RSS feeds through the browser, and it’s called “live bookmarking”. Once you click on the RSS symbol, you will be taken to a page which explains your options and you will be asked to click a Subscribe button to confirm that you want to get notices of the new articles as they are added to our website. At the top of your browser screen, you will see the little RSS icon and the title of the latest article when it is added to the website. If you want to read the article, just click on the title.

If you'd like to learn more about RSS feeds and options for visitors who are using older browsers, you can find more information on RSS readers on the Wikipedia website.
